At Gaugebit, we value your privacy. Gaugebit is designed as a local-first desktop application utility for monitoring system performance and hardware telemetry. This Privacy Policy details how data is managed, ensuring 100% transparency.

2. Local Data Processing

Gaugebit operates fully inside user space on your local computer. It queries system metrics (such as CPU temperature, GPU usage, network adapter throughput, and memory allocations) using local Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and performance APIs.

• No Cloud Storage: All polled hardware metrics remain on your local machine and are never transmitted to any cloud servers.
• Local Database Logs: SQLite database telemetry logs are stored entirely in a local file on your machine and are only accessible by you.

3. Anonymous Telemetry & Opt-Out Control

To help us improve widget reliability, fix crash bugs, and understand daily active user trends (DAU/WAU/MAU), Gaugebit collects minimal, non-personally identifiable usage statistics:

• Anonymous Identifier: A randomly generated installation UUID (e.g. anon_x89f...). Zero names, emails, IP addresses, or personal file paths are ever collected.
• Tracked Metrics: App launch events (DAU counter), app version, Pro tier status, widget adoption counts (e.g. Audio Visualizer opened), and unhandled crash exception stack traces.
• User Opt-Out Choice: You can disable all telemetry pings at any time by opening Settings ➔ Startup & System in the application and toggling off "Anonymous Telemetry & Analytics".

4. Licensing and Activations

When you activate a Premium Edition license key inside the application settings, the application makes a secure call to our licensing validator API. This request only transmits the license key to verify its validity and does not attach any personal identifiers or hardware fingerprint hashes.
